Why the KBB industry doesn't embrace technology

Tony Hales (Nexus Design Software) suggests that the industry is still failing to embrace technology because the KBB industry is made up of fitters and retailers that haven't come from a technological background meaning that much of the industries personnel are failing to understand the importance of technology and the power that a well-crafted piece of CAD Software can bring to a showroom or retailer.

It appears that whilst other industries (such as finance) have embraced technology to transport them into the 21st century, KBB retailers are continuing to rely on tried and tested methods and although these methodologies provide expected results, failing to embrace the new IT centric technology is keeping some KBB businesses in the dark ages; helping them to lose clients, not win them.

Roger West of Smart Systems suggests that there is hope for the future:"As a younger generation enters the market, many will be equipped with IT know-how and this should be seen as an ideal opportunity for those more traditional retailers to utilise this knowledge. By embracing IT together, both groups [both the older hands-on generation and the younger IT focused generation] can share their own knowledge and experiences and build on creating a stronger business."
